This is the 44th running of the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon. The Guthrie Wineglass Marathon is the second-largest marathon in New York State. Named a top destination and must-do marathon by Livestrong, Active Times, and others, the Wineglass course is a fast, flat, scenic point-to-point course through the Southern Finger Lakes. The Guthrie Wineglass Marathon is a must-do marathon perfect for obtaining whatever your goal, a PR, BQ or your first marathon. (Course Time Limit - 6.5 hours.)
The Guthrie Wineglass Marathon
The first Wineglass Marathon took place in 1981 with 291 runners but quickly built a reputation as an exceptional destination race known for its scenic, fast course, beautiful glass medals, and the hospitality of locals. Voted the Best Marathon in New York State, the race starts in Bath and finishes on Historic Market Street in Corning. The picturesque course winds through several small towns and along scenic country roads. Popular among runners, the course is fast and flat. ***Runners must be 18 years of age or older.

VIP Bus
Board the VIP Bus Sunday morning at Wegmans in Corning, away from the hustle-and-bustle of the other runners catching their buses to the start lines. This small coach-style bus stocked with pre-race goodies will deliver you to the full marathon start line. The VIP Bus will remain near the start line for you to wait in comfort (and warmth) before you need to toe the start line. Seats are limited to 40 runners. The VIP option is $300 from 12/1/2024 - 4/30/2025 and $350 from May 1, 2025 until sold out, with half of the fee going towards your entry and the other half supporting the Wineglass Scholarship Fund.
***Please Note that this Bus Leaves from Wegmans In Corning! This is the only option for getting on the VIP Bus!
Elite
To be considered as an elite entry, please submit your request to jlawson@wineglassmarathon.com and include a complete running bio for the past three years. The Wineglass does not send out invitations for elite entries. Each athlete is required to submit a request in accordance with the procedures described herein. Note: The Wineglass does not pay for travel to and from Corning, NY.
Please include the following information at the time of the request.
- Full name as shown in race results
- Mailing address and phone number
- Age/Date of birth
- Sex at birth
- Citizenship
- Listing of previous races to include
- Race name & date of the event
- Finish time
- Overall or Masters finish place
- Race you wish to enter – Wineglass full or half marathon
- The goal for your Wineglass event
Transportation
All runners MUST take a bus from either Corning or Bath to the start line. For security and public safety reasons, no exceptions. Runners MUST have a bib when boarding a bus to the start line! There is no race day bib pickup at the start line.
Please remember:
- Later buses fill quickly, so arrive early for a less stressful trip
- Runners only allowed on buses, no spectators
- No backpacks allowed. Please use the clear plastic gear bag provided to you at the Expo (in your swag bag) and write your bib number on it
Full Marathon Start Line Buses from Corning
Where: Tioga Avenue – just to the east of Cedar Street
When: 5:30 am – 7:00 am continuously
Trip duration: 30 minutes
Last bus: 7:00 am sharp!
Full Marathon Start Line Buses from Bath
Where: Pulteney Park
When: 6:00 am - 7:30 am continuously
Trip duration: 5 minutes
Last bus: 7:30 am sharp!
Awards
All finishers will receive a hand-crafted glass medal, continuing a long tradition of unique and collectible Wineglass medals.
A $500 cash bonus is awarded for breaking a course record (Open and Masters). The Overall Male and Female winners will receive a stunning Steuben Crystal Disc. The top 3 winners in both the Overall and Masters categories will receive an engraved wine carafe. Gun time calculates cash prizes.

Age Group Awards = Age Group Awards = First, second, and third-place finishers in the age groups listed below will receive an engraved stemless wine glass. Chip Time will calculate Age Group Awards. Age Groups: 16-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+. Note: Age Group Awards will be mailed to recipients.
If an athlete should qualify for prize money in both the Overall and Masters division, they will collect whichever prize money award is larger, and not both. If such an instance occurs, the next athlete in the division will move up one spot and collect the prize vacated by the first runner.
